« back to news list  RAVENNAMOSAICO RavennaMosaico Ravenna Mosaico is the First International Festival dedicated to the most contemporary expressions of an ancient art. A series of exhibitions, new productions, congresses, workshops, restoration workshops, meetings and conferences, in Ravenna, alongside the early Christian and Byzantine legacy of mosaics that is now part of the World Heritage List of UNESCO. The Festival is organised in collaboration with aimc, the International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists In cooperation with Municipality of Ravenna the aimc has organized four exhibitions Nature and Culture Mosaics from the Library of Alexandria in Egypt Location: Sala Manica Lunga - Classense Library Via Baccarini 3 From Alexandria in Egypt, the city in which one of the most ancient libraries in the world once existed and from a workshop run by Egyptian mosaicists in cooperation with the AIMC (International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists), an exhibition will come for RavennaMosaico, financed by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. Mosaic Installations Location: Cloisters of the Oriani Library - Via Corrado Ricci 26 The cloisters of the Oriani Library will be adorned with mosaic installations to exhibit the most contemporary applications of mosaic art. Works from the world Location: Urban Center - Church of San Domenico - Via Cavour 1 An exhibition to introduce in the city of mosaics the most recent works by artists who in different continents have chosen the path of an ancient art. Mosaic Architecture Location: Conference Centre - Largo Firenze From ancient times the relationship between mosaic and architecture has been very profound: this exhibition with great photographic panels of works by the members of AIMC, highlights the most contemporary applications of this relationship.
